Design + Judging Process

Judges select the top 20 semi-finalists, who then progress to the second judging panel. Students must be creative, but fashion forward and on trend. Only 10 of the best, most talented students are selected each year as Young Designer Award finalists on the third judging panel, with the winners selected by a fourth judging panel. This process ensures input from several fashion fundis who make up the various judging panels and most importantly, that the correct winners are selected.

Whilst prizes are fantastic, it truly is the TV, media and social media attention that makes it most worthwhile, as this lasts long after race day and places the Vodacom Durban July Young Designer Award finalists and the winner firmly in the public eye.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
