Born in Impendle, in the Natal Midlands which is a country side, my inspiration is a young girl in her late teens. Still innocent and pure, experiencing the city life as she is now a tertiary student, teachings from home and the entire village keeps her rooted.
The rust colour is from corrugated rondavel roofs, rustic old tractor owned by mkhulu Zondi and old church roof built by mkhulu Ndlovu who worked in the mines. The champagne colour is from the layers of traditional beer brewed by her mother everytime she’s about to go back to the city. In honour of the ancestors for her safety, guidance and protection until she returns home. The wool is from her maiden traditional ceremony attire, she’s still innocent and keeping herself pure until she meets a man who will honour her father’s house.
