Every year we discover what the fashion designers and fashionistas have imagined through their interpretations of the year’s event theme and their exploration of race day magic.
Will it be brightly coloured ethnic prints? Or will it be a classic silky interpretation? A tapestry of texture? Or flowing folds representing landscapes, seas and mountains?
Designers and fashion enthusiasts have explored their own unique concepts of each year’s theme, and this is where you can see their creativity come to life – whether on the runway in one of the various fashion competitions or simply through standout looks designed to turn heads and shine.
Hollywoodbets Durban July Invited Designer Showcase

This is by far the most glamorous element of the Hollywoodbets Durban July Fashion Experience. Each of the nationally relevant designers is selected because of their position in the market, their experience, their relevance on the fashion landscape and their current media profile.
The designers in the Hollywoodbets Durban July Invited Designer Showcase will present their creations on Hollywoodbets Durban July race day. As this is a showcase in its truest form, there are no prizes.
Hollywoodbets Durban July DFF Rising Stars Collection

Like the Invited Designer Showcase, the Durban Fashion Fair Rising Stars Collection is not a competition. It is a showcase of some of the best work of nine young mentees who have been successfully empowered through Durban Fashion Fair’s Mentorship Programme.
Each of the nine DFF Rising Stars designers will receive:
- R5 000 in cash compliments of Race Coast and Schweppes.
Hollywoodbets Durban July Young Designer Award

The Hollywoodbets Durban July Young Designer Award showcases the very best young, emerging talent currently studying fashion at design colleges and technikons across KwaZulu-Natal. Students are invited to submit work embodying the race day theme. After a judging process, the finalists’ ensembles are shown on race day.

Calling all fashionistas! Be part of the race day fashion buzz at the Hollywoodbets Durban July by entering one of the Raceday Fashion Competitions in one of the following categories:
MOST STRIKING COUPLE
CLASSIC RACEWEAR – FEMALE
CLASSIC RACEWEAR – MALE
EXCEPTIONAL RACEDAY HAT OR FASCINATOR
Registration will begin at 11h30. Pre-Judging happens promptly at 12h00 near the Pulse Stage in the Infield Public Village at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse.
These fashion competitions are open to the public and entrants must have a valid race day entrance ticket to enter the event.
