DFF: Nellie D Designs

My inspiration for the 2026 Hollywoodbets Durban July is rooted in izinkuni, a symbol of warmth, strength, and cultural connection. Growing up, izinkuni represented more than firewood; they were a source of gathering, storytelling, and resilience. I express this through earthy tones, textured fabrics, and handcrafted elements like wooden beads and twine, while the inclusion of cowhide adds a bold connection to tradition and identity. The look is completed with a woven hat detailed with vibrant orange beads, bringing warmth and a striking visual contrast. The structured silhouettes reflect strength and confidence, while the organic details soften the design. This collection reflects who I am, where tradition meets modern elegance, told with pride and authenticity.
